Applegreen Partners with Jigsaw to Support Youth Mental Health

Applegreen Announces Three-Year Partnership with Jigsaw to Support Youth Mental Health

Applegreen has announced a new three-year partnership with Jigsaw, the national charity for youth mental health, reinforcing its long-standing commitment to supporting communities across Ireland.

Through this partnership, Applegreen aims to raise at least €1 million between 2026 and 2028 to support Jigsaw’s vital early-intervention mental health services for young people aged 12–25.

Rising Demand for Youth Mental Health Support

In 2025, Jigsaw recorded its highest ever number of referrals, with more than 11,000 young people seeking support—a 23% increase on the previous year. This rise underscores the growing youth mental health crisis nationwide.

By partnering with Jigsaw, Applegreen will help expand access to free, early mental health services to support young people facing challenges including anxiety, depression, loneliness and isolation.

"You Buy We Give" to Drive Customer-Led Support

A key part of the fundraising effort will come through Applegreen’s long-running “You Buy We Give” initiative. For every in-store purchase, Applegreen donates to its charitable fund on behalf of the customer.

To launch the partnership, Applegreen will double its donation to 2c per transaction for the month of February, helping accelerate early fundraising momentum.

Additional contributions will be raised through sponsored events, customer donations and a nationwide awareness campaign across Applegreen’s store network.

A 15-Year Commitment to Irish Communities

The Applegreen Charitable Fund has raised nearly €8 million for national and local charities since 2009, supporting community groups, families and young people across Ireland.

Most recently, the company raised €2.3 million for Barretstown between 2022 and 2025—more than double its original target.

Applegreen Ireland Managing Director Seamus Stapleton said:

“Our colleagues made it clear that youth mental health matters deeply to them. Jigsaw’s mission, national reach and commitment to accessible early support align closely with Applegreen’s focus on community wellbeing. Partnering with Jigsaw allows us to support young people in meaningful, local ways. We are also proud that colleagues across our Irish sites—over 50% of whom are under 25—may benefit directly from the supports Jigsaw provides.”

Supporting Families and Communities Nationwide

Youth mental health has become one of Ireland’s most pressing social challenges. Applegreen colleagues across Ireland expressed strong support for focusing on young people’s mental health during a nationwide review of potential charity partners.

Jigsaw CEO Dr. Joseph Duffy welcomed the partnership:

“This partnership brings together a shared belief that communities thrive when we look out for one another. With Applegreen’s support, we can reach more children and young people at a time when demand for mental health services continues to surge. When young people struggle, families struggle—and this partnership will help us ensure that more families have access to the vital help they need, when it matters most.”
